Every trip is different but I am a creature of habit so I usually do things the same way. Fortunately that wasn't the case this time. At the urging of my mother and my extreme distaste for middle seats combined with having some unexpected free time at work I called to have my seat assignment changed instead of waiting until I got to the airport. I like talking to the people. I think they care more and you get a better seat assignment.
Imagine my surprise when I was told that the flight had been cancelled in November. Deep breath. count to ten. Whaaaaaattttt??? After a couple of hours new flights were booked and I would actually arrive at my destination a whole day earlier which also means 20 less hours of flying time and there is nothing wrong with that.
Flat Stanley is laminated. I have jammed an unreasonable amount of things into my carryon including one of the largest pair of hiking boots ever purchased. I have snacks. I have books. I have a life straw. I have tan grams. If that is not the definition of ready I don't know what is.
