Just Plain Deliciousness

Last night I had one of the best meals of my life (so it deserves its own entry). I had read about this place and every review had said it is one of the best restaurants in Thailand. After having eaten there, I would put this place against almost any restaurant I have eaten in to date: Nobu, Salt, Jules Verne, Toreros... You get the point.

I asked about it at my hostel and was warned that it was expensive (translation 15-20 dollars for dinner) and that it was far (2.5 miles) and sometimes a pain to find a ride there.

Upon arrival it was a simple open air, tin roof restaurant with no pretense and a foyer full of the most beautiful iced fish and fish tanks.

We sat down and ordered and were asked to select our fish (if we ordered one that should be chosen). I ordered the yellow curried soft crab and the garlic cuttlefish.

What came from the kitchen were flavors that were out of this world. It was more than worth the 5 mile walk and $15 (ha!) that I spent on dinner.

So if you are ever in Krabi (especially Ao Nang) or have 50 hours of free time to fly here get dinner and get back I highly suggest it.

I almost forgot. The restaurant is named Kruathara. I haven't googled what it means in thai because I don't need to. To me it means: "Realizing your wildest culinary dreams via seafood, garlic, and curry."
