So I missed my flight to Hanoi, but that was almost a already guarantee when we left Dallas. As I left the plane a rep handed me meal vouchers, a hotel voucher, directions to the bus that would take me to the hotel, and three minutes of international calling time (Mr. Tony was not pleased. "so you won't come to my hotel tonight?
No sir I am stuck in Japan.
So you will go to another hotel?
Not in Hanoi in Japan.
So you are not coming tonight?
No sir tomorrow." we finally agreed email might be the best way to communicate. Which, until I figured put I could steal the room beside me's wireless, was a pain. It took 10 of my 15 min of paid wireless to figure put how to make the computer quit typing in Japanese characters. I was almost at the point of winging it japanese character style however I thought it best not to risk Mr. Tony's ire and his possible connection to all of the other hotels in Hanoi.
My hotel is nice enough. I actually have a real live key that unless it is in it's little door pouch I can't use anything electric in the room. I have to duck to get into the bathroom. They seem to be obsessed with Texas. My voucher for dinner apparently would have gotten me a Texas BBQ feast. I almost went just to see what they would serve, but since I was fed every hour or so on the plane I decided a hot shower won out.
This morning my voucher treated me to a "western buffet". They did have french fries, cocoa crispies, and baby corn which might be what they eat in Texas for breakfast. I tried some sticky beans that I think will remain in my stomach until at least 2015.
Below is the buffet and the lesson for the day (courtesy of the decor at the pool) off to the airport and Hanoi! I hope...
