Manuel Antonio
This weekend I went to Manuel Antonio, which is a national park by the Pacific Ocean. To describe the busride down there as bumpy is to say that there are a few Starbucks in NYC. I think at one time we were actually driving on the railroad tracks. Halfway on the bus trip )it took 4 hours we stopped at a roadside stand where I bought the strangest little edible¿ circular things. None of the ingredients listed on the package were in my dictionary which is still a tad concerning.
We arrived at the hotel, Verde de la Mar, sorry Jamelle Costa Verde was all booked and with good reason, and walked along the beach. We got there late on Friday so we just had time to do that and eat at Hotel Vela Bar. On the way to dinner we saw Squirrel Monkeys everywhere. I woke up early on Saturday and we went to breakfast at the Marlin and then went into the park. When I started looking there were iguanas everywhere. They hang out at the pool on the beach in the restaurants everywhere you look. We also saw howler monkeys and white'faced capuchins and sloths. We also saw a snake. Other than a lot of amazing hiking with the monkeys hanging out about 2 feet from us, we did a fair amount of swimming and avoiding the man who was really convinced that each of us needed a vase that looked like it was made out of cut down rain forest trees. The second night I stayed at Karahe, another great place and we did about the same. I ended up going to Manuel Antonio with 8 other people. 2 from St Louis, 2 from Chicago, and 6 from Phoenix all med students, hooray!
I haven´t figured out how to post pictures but I will post some as soon as I do )if that happens)
Try posting pictures to photobucket or an alike site, then reposting them as html code.
ReplyDeleteKelly - Good to hear that you are in one piece and the monkeys haven't carried you off. Keep up the posts - very entertaining to read.
ReplyDeleteAnd who needs hot water - You aren't scared are you?
Last night I again tried to convince myself that cold water is refreshing, but decided that is a hallucination that only overly perky people say when they are in complete and utter denial.
