I bounced back quickly and decided to go on a run which turned out to be a little overzealous for my current level of health and hydration but it happened anyway. On the way out I decided to drop off various clothes to do some laundry including a November Project Pullover.
The run was beautiful and sweaty which in my book equals a wonderful 6 miles. I forget how much I love humidity until I am in it. I did an out and back and ran past where I was staying into the village where I ended in the outdoor gym (a collection of machines that would give you a great workout should you commit to every machine). I walked home on the beach and continued my trash collecting.
I made it to breakfast, another buffet, and was a little wary in the beginning. I stuck with boiled eggs and a little fruit for the first 15 minutes, but I hated to miss an opportunity to TRY ALL THE FOOD. So I ended up just diving in and getting a bite of almost everything. I forgot that there was probably a dress code for this as well and I was immediately post run and slimy. Would they really uphold the dress code for breakfast? If the other patrons were any indication, my guess is yes. I was glad I was sitting on the outer rim.
Breakfast was good. especially the fruit and juices. When I returned to my room I was called by the front desk that there was black paint on my pullover (the November Project tag. See above photo) and they were concerned it wouldn’t be able to be removed. I told them that it was supposed to be there. She said ok but seemed confused.
I was off to the spa for a "massage experience". I felt obligated to go there. I had visited the day before and they had a plaque saying they were one of the best spas in the world. It looked official and how could I not go when there was a plaque?
Experience was the correct way to describe this massage. It began with a 15 minute sauna (where I learned about Seychellian government and foreign relations courtesy of 2 other guests). This was followed by an aromatherapy guided meditation then the massage began. It was great and went by way too quickly. After the massage I was led to a tranquility garden where I sipped spa tea (there was some ginger and some lemongrass and some other flavor I can’t quite place) and ate raw nuts and dried fruit by a beautiful fountain.
After the massage I decided to take another long walk on the beach this time in the opposite direction, a beach swing, and then follow it with a bubble bath. The bath was more complicated than expected because I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the hot water. Three maintenance visits and finally a manager turning the knob the opposite way later, I was in hot bath business when the doorbell rang again.
This time it was a woman from the laundry. She was holding my November Project pullover pointing to all of the spray paint saying she couldn’t get it off. I told her it was supposed to be like that. She was very perplexed and showed me more spots. I promised it was ok. She didn’t look pleased with that but accepted it and left.
In all of the action somehow I ended up using body lotion as conditioner and didn’t discover this until many hours later when I ran my hand through my hair at the airport and it got stuck. At least it smelled good?
Dinner tonight was simple bar food. No more buffets at the moment for me.
